What is Ramdan Kareem?
Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic calendar. And it is the blessed month mentioned in the Holy Quran. It is said that the Holy Quran was revealed in the month of Ramadan. (Al-Baqarah: 1865) In this month, there is a night (Lailat al-Qadr), which is better than a thousand nights. (Al-Qadr: 3)
When the first night of Ramadan comes, all the gates of paradise are opened. And not a single door was closed for the entire month. And the demons are bound. In this month, every deed gets twice as much reward as compared to normal days.
And Allah Almighty commands a person who gives a voice to say this:
“O seekers of good, go forward, and O seekers of evil, you are behind.
Then Allah says,
“There is one who asks for forgiveness so that he may be forgiven. Someone is asking. So that his question is fulfilled. And someone is going to do it. So that his repentance is accepted.”
“Whoever stays during the nights of Ramadan out of faith and with the intention of reward, then he is free from sins as he was on the day when his mother gave birth to him.”
Blessings of Ramadan
Allah Talah made the fasting of this month obligatory and made the night stay in it a reward. A person who does a good deed in this month to gain closeness to Allah is like performing a duty in a non-Ramadan, and a person who performs a duty in a non-Ramadan is like performing seventy duties in a non-Ramadan. This month is for grieving with people. This month, the sustenance of the believers has increased.
The wisdom and magnificence of the month have been told. Fasting during Ramadan becomes a normal human habit. It is one of the pillars of Islam. It purifies the human body. It breaks the soul of a person. It prevents every evil action and inclines the heart towards good.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever makes a fasting person break his fast, he will get the same reward as the fasting person, and there will be no reduction in the fasting person’s reward.” (Sunan al-Tirmidhi: 807)
A fasting person gets to know the blessing of patience in hunger. When a person is fasting, his heart will also be inclined towards the recitation of the Quran, prayer, and almsgiving. Instead of talking nonsense, he is blessed with familiarity with the remembrance of God.
Benefits and rewards of Ramadan
The month of Ramadan Mubarak has numerous benefits for all Muslims as a whole. The daily routine of this blessed month is not only useful for humans from a medical point of view but also gives a message of revival to other creatures of the universe. This is the reason for the spirituality of Ramadan Mubarak.
In the initial days of fasting, one feels a little hungry, but slowly the human body gets used to it. Because stored fat and other components are naturally used in the body, the needs of the body are fulfilled automatically.
Apart from this, fasting is also an effective remedy for the selfishness and egoism of humanity, along with training to control desires. In this basic life, there are spiritual, physical, medical, and social benefits. In the afterlife, blessings such as welfare and forgiveness are given to the fasting person as a reward.
It is also a time for Muslims to be especially giving and compassionate; they contribute to charities, help those in need, and promote kindness.
The blessed hadith is:
“There are eight gates in Paradise, one of which is called Bab-al-Rayyan. Only those who fast will enter through it”.
Another hadith says,
“Whoever fasts one day for the pleasure of Allah, may Allah Almighty grant him get away from hellfire.”
The sanctity of Ramadan
All human books are revealed this month. The Holy Quran was revealed on the odd nights of the last decade of Ramadan. And one of those nights was declared Shab Qadr. The wisdom of fasting as a duty is known from the Holy Quran, and that is to achieve piety. Piety means chastity, which is a state of heart that prevents a person from doing evil. And attracts people towards good deeds. If you want to know more about Islam, you can stay here!
Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (peace be upon him) said:
The “scriptures” of Hazrat Ibrahim were revealed on the first night of Ramadan; the “Torah” was revealed on the 6th of Ramadan; the “Injil” was revealed on the 13th of Ramadan; the “Psalms” were revealed on the 18th of Ramadan; and the “Quran” was revealed on the 27th of Ramadan. It was revealed on Ramadan.” (Al-Ajam al-Awsat by Al-Tarani: 3740)
The origin of fasting; Ramdan Calendar
Fasting is not just the act of stopping eating and drinking. It teaches about the welfare of Muslims. There is a sanctity to this fast; there is a place that prevents a person from evil.
The main purpose of fasting is to make man’s desires subservient to the commands of Allah and make him pious. When a person controls his food and drink and psychological desires throughout the month of Ramadan, he is protected from all moral evils. And most of his time is spent doing good deeds or worship.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“Whoever fasts and does not give up lying and blasphemy, then God does not need a person to stop eating and drinking.” (Sahih al-Turghib wa al-Tharhib: 1080)
The indication of this hadith is exactly towards those people who tell lies even while fasting. In this hadith, those who do not have arrogance, lying, or fear of God are strongly advised in their daily affairs.
Virtues of fasting
On the last night of Ramadan, forgiveness is offered to those who fast. The Companions said, Is this night of forgiveness the night of Qadr? He said no, but the law says that workers are paid at the time of completion of work. (Ibn Hibban). Therefore, this holy month is very important in the religion of Islam.
